This course is the next level to Powerboat Level 2, and looks to increase your knowledge & give confidence to go further for longer. The course teaches over two days how to navigate by both electronic and traditional methods, plus a bit more in-depth chart work in order to put a passage plan together.
The Powerboat Intermediate course is designed to teach boat handling and seamanship skills. The course takes two days to complete and is open to experienced boaters and complete novices alike.
The practical side looks to demonstrate how to know where you are on the water, and how to run a course to steer to get more accurate plots to end stops.
Also how to enter an unknown marina, cross drying heights with confidence, and lots more. It’s a hands on course with the emphasis on as much boat handling time as possible. The theory is conducted in as easy a form as possible and has no written test to take. Fun and a relaxed atmosphere is the order of the day.
Pilotage and passage planning are also included as part of the I.C.C . (The International Certificate of Competence), the driving license for power boating. Upon completion and applying to the RYA you can charter powerboats up to 10 mtrs. in length almost anywhere in the world.
A maximum of three students per course is the mandatory limit of student to instructor ratio. This makes time to help those who may need just a little more attention if needed.
One-to-one tuition is also available.
Minimum age 12 yrs. Up to 16 yrs. the Certificate is endorsed meaning a responsible adult must be in attendance. Cheaper boat insurance is generally available with the Level 2 certification.
Powerboat Intermediate costs £275 per person. Includes Manual and Certificate. No hidden extras.
